What is published here

The publication covers blockchain as an engineering subject: the structure of a distributed ledger, the cryptography that holds it together, the ways independent computers agree on a shared history, the standards that let separate systems interoperate, and the everyday practices that follow from how the technology works.

Articles are long, self-contained and infrequent. Each one is written to answer a single question thoroughly rather than to cover a topic briefly. Because the subject is technical rather than commercial, articles describe behaviour and design decisions; they do not rank products, quote prices, forecast anything or suggest what a reader should do with money.

Editorial standards

Every article is written and edited by Serare Alkan and published under the byline serarean55725. The standards below apply to all of it.

• Accuracy before completeness. Where a mechanism is genuinely contested or still changing, the article says so instead of presenting one description as settled.
• Primary material first. Explanations are built from public specifications, protocol documentation and the behaviour of the software itself rather than from secondary commentary.
• Defined vocabulary. A technical term is defined the first time it is used and then used consistently. Where a term is commonly written in transliterated form in Japan, the Japanese form is given alongside it.
• No promotion. Articles do not endorse, recommend or disparage any organisation, product or network, and they contain no referral arrangements of any kind.
• Visible dates. Each article shows when it was first published and when it was last revised, so a reader can judge how current it is.
• Open corrections. When an error is found, the article is corrected and the revision date is updated. Articles are not silently deleted to hide mistakes.
